June 24, 2012 – Thanks to my wife (and whoever gave her the idea), I have a wonderful new tradition in my life and in my home. We call them “Dad Dates”.
This is “Lime” (his online name – they all have fruity code names, can you guess why?). He was the lucky recipient of the first of many dad dates that each of my kids will be invited to in the coming months and years. This past week, Lime and I went to get frozen yogurt and then spent time together hanging out under the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho (one of Lime’s new favorite places to visit) until the sun went down.
Dads, if you haven’t taken your kids on a date yet, try it! In a hectic world with heavy demands, bills to pay, and days that often end before we get everything finished, here is a simple answer to many complicated questions about family, children, and the future.
I will never regret the time spent with my children. I cannot afford to not spend this time with them.
